Journaling- Just pull out a pen and paper and start writing. Don’t worry about spelling, grammar, or sentence structure. Let all of the feelings and emotions flow onto the paper.
Watch an episode of F.R.I.E.N.D.S- Turn on an episode of your favorite happy and mindless show. For me FRIENDS can always boost my mood and make me feel calmer, no matter how many times I’ve seen an episode.
Take a warm shower- Just stand under the warm water for awhile and let yourself relax.
Take a walk- Get out into the fresh air and just got for a relaxing stroll. Sit down for a minute in the park or by the water and just enjoy everything around you.
Call someone close to you- Talk to a close friend or family member. Sometimes I will call my husband, sister, or mom and tell them I’m feeling anxious and just want to talk. Focusing on something other than my anxious feelings usually helps me feel better.
Listen to your favorite soundtrack-Turn on your favorite music and just get lost in it. My go-to when I’m feeling anxious is the soundtrack from The Greatest Showman, I just feel so powerful and strong listening to it.
Hit the gym- Exercise releases endorphins that help boost your mood. Try to get a little exercise to help calm anxiety.
Cuddle up with a pet- Cat, dog, bird, hamster- grab your fur baby and snuggle up together. Nothing makes me feel as good as the love from my dogs π
The most important thing with anxiety is to not let it be in control, because it will naturally amplify when itβs on the drivers seat
